Kaufman and Broad CEO Bruce Karatz will Ring Opening Bell to Celebrate 30 Years Trading on the NYSE

Karatz Notes Biggest Change In Homebuilding In 30 Years Is Use Of Technology

NEW YORK (May 24, 2000) - Kaufman and Broad Home Corporation (NYSE:KBH) Chairman and CEO Bruce Karatz will ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange tomorrow, Thursday May 25, to celebrate the Company's 30th year of trading on the exchange and 43 years of building homes for America's families. Karatz notes that while many aspects of homebuilding have changed during the past 30 years, the most significant change is the technology available to homebuyers and homebuilders today.

Thirty years ago, cable television was the newest innovation offered to homebuyers. Today, Kaufman and Broad helps consumers prepare for the future by offering "smart homes" that include high-speed digital Internet access, home computer networking and video conferencing products, and integrated home systems and wiring. Later this year, the Company will offer the Aladn™ Energy Management Suite of products that employ an available, affordable technology for networking everyday devices to each other and the Internet. Additionally, Kaufman and Broad maximizes its use of technology for business-to-business activities to save time and money and passes those savings on to the consumer.
